Frontier Flint Longrifle
.32 caliber, 39" barrel,
walnut, brass, flintlock,
used, by Davide Pedersoli
This Pedersoli Frontier rifle is stocked in walnut and trimmed in brass furniture. This rifle is used with some patina on the lock and brass furniture. This sleek flint longrifle is .32 caliber, with 39" browned octagon barrel, iron front sight, semi-buckhorn rear sight, and color case hardened lock. With a trigger reach of 14-1/4” and an overall weight of 7.9 pounds, this rifle has been built with today’s larger shooter, someone over 5’10”, in mind.
The 39" octagon barrel is marked with various Pedersoli markings including the caliber, .32, on the left oblique flat. The barrel is finished a dark brown. The .32 caliber bore is mostly bright but does have some small dark spot on the edges of a few grooves. The front sight is a steel blade, with integral steel base, located 2” behind the muzzle; the rear sight is a classic semi-buckhorn rear sight, with square notch, sighted to match the front sight and is located 11-1/2” forward of the breech. This is a sight set-up that is preferred by older shooters with corrective lenses, since the sight picture appears more natural.
Stocked in walnut that has been stained a medium brown. Trimmed in brass that has a dark patina. The rifle is not decorated or overly fancy; no entry pipe is fitted, and no pins or lugs are needed, since rod pipe mounting screws also attach the forend to the barrel. A molding along the forend ends with a relief at the muzzle, to allow your fingers to easily grip and remove the rod. No decorative muzzle cap or toeplate is used on Frontier rifles. Our back view shows the Kentucky rifle style cheek piece, and side panel. No sideplate, toeplate, muzzle cap, or ramrod entry pipe is fitted.
The large rifle size flint lock is color case hardened in mottled colors. The lock sparks well, and the frizzen face shows only a few marks on it. The lock finish does have a few scattered brown spots from use. We recommend a 7/8" by 1" flint in the Pedersoli Frontier locks. Double lever double set triggers are correctly tuned to fire set or unset. You may cock the lock, or set the triggers, in any sequence. Thus, this rifle will serve you well when hunting big game during very cold weather. A tiny adjustment screw, between the two triggers, controls trigger release. Turn it inboard, until the set feature is disabled, for use during very cold weather. Don't risk an accidental discharge. Numb fingers cannot feel the very light touch of this double set trigger, when set. When disabled, the rifle has a normal trigger release, probably about 4 pounds or a bit more, ideal for hunting. When enabled, you can set a very light trigger release, ideal for match shooting, or hunting small game in moderate weather.
Ignition is aided by the stainless steel vent liner, perfectly centered and correctly positioned well above the pan, to serve as a window on the center of the priming flash. This vent is slotted to allow easy removal. We stock the spare vent, and we can supply a threaded flush nipple and tubing kit, to allow hot water flush cleaning this rifle without spilling water on the stock.

Else if it does not fit you, return it in unfired condition for same-day refund. Postage is your only risk, when you order any one-of-a-kind gun from Track, whether new, used, or antique.
