The factory polished blued barrel is .54 caliber, 1" octagon, 28" length. The front sight is Thompson Center's blued steel bead sight. The rear sight is click adjustable for elevation, and screw adjustable for windage. The bluing on this rifle is in excellent condition. The bore is bright with a few small scattered speckles visible. We recommend our .530" round ball, .015" patch, and Mink Oil tallow patch lubricant, over a charge of 70 grains of GOEX FFg black powder. This rifle barrel pre-dates the QLA muzzle and the bore is rifled all the way to the end of the muzzle.
The curly maple stock displays some attractive figure over the length of the stock. The stock is stained to a dark brown with golden undertone and finished to a satin sheen. The buttplate, nosecap, and triggerguard are all finished to a dark blue. The top view shows the T/C hooked breech, which can be dismounted by removing the ramrod and wedge key, for easy cleaning. The ramrod is fitted with brass tips. The rear tip is threaded 10-32 to accept loading and cleaning accessories. The ramrod is retained by two round steel pipes. The single lock bolt has a round brass washer-style side plate. The beaver tail cheek piece is shaped for a right hand shooter.
Our lock view shows the color case hardened percussion lock, factory engraved by Thompson Center. This lock works smoothly, with a strong mainspring, and fly detent to allow the use of double set triggers. The breech is fitted with a stainless steel nipple for No. 11 percussion caps. The R.E. Davis deerslayer set triggers are correctly adjusted, you may cock the lock, or set the trigger, in any sequence. Turn the tiny set trigger adjustment screw, between the two triggers, inboard to reduce the set trigger release tension.
