This scrimshawed powder horn is finished with a warm brown patina on the body and darker tip. The tip has a raised ring to secure a strap with a smooth transition to a wedding band border to the horn body. The horn measures 13" around the outside curve from the tip to the end of the wood base. The iron staple adds about 1/2" to the overall length. Small wood and iron pegs secure the base to the horn. A turned wooden stopper is fitted and secured with a woven lanyard. The horn is scrimshawed with a Federal eagle clutching an olive brand and sheaf of arrows and the patriotic verse He Who Dare To Take Our Freedom Away Will Pay Dearly.
