This scrimshawed powder horn is finished with a warm brown patina on the body and tip. The tip has raised rings to secure a strap, and a transition to an engrailed border to the horn body. The horn measures 12" around the outside curve from the tip to the end of the wood base. The iron staple adds about 1/2" to the overall length. Small wood pegs secure the base to the horn. A turned wooden stopper is fitted. The horn is scrimshawed with the verse You are never alone for I am hanging on your side. A panel for the owner's name is scrimshawed on the opposite side.
