The .45 caliber barrel is fitted with the later bead front sight. The barrel does have some marks near the front sight from installation. The factory rear sight that is click adjustable for windage and elevation. The bore of the barrel is bright and in well maintained condition. We recommend our #BALL-440 Hornady pure lead .440" round ball, #OX-15-40-W Ox Yoke .015" lubricated patch, and 60 grains of FFFg black powder for best accuracy. This is a early production barrel and does not have the Seneca model name stamped on the upper flats.
The straight grain walnut stock has been refinished to a satin sheen. The stock has a few minor handling marks from use. The stock has a repaired crack on the lock side from the breech into the lock mortise, which is very common on this model. The brass furniture has darkened to a mellow patina from long storage. The buttplate has a modest curve to engage the shooter's shoulder. The brass toeplate is mounted with brass screws. A swivel stud is mounted ahead of the toeplate. This rifle does not have a forward swivel. The brass triggerguard has a well aged patina. The forend of the stock is fitted with a brass forend cap. A squared cheek piece is factory carved on this T/C Seneca .45 caliber rifle. This rifle is fitted with a brown fiberglas ramrod with the factory flared brass tip and 10-32 threaded tip for cleaning accessories.
The color case hardened lock has the factory engraved percussion hammer with flat lock plate. This lock works smoothly, with a strong mainspring, and fly detent to allow the use of double set triggers. The percussion breech with snail is fitted with a 12-28 threaded stainless steel nipple. Order our #PTC-S should you need a spare. Triggers are double lever double set triggers, factory designed to allow firing the rifle from either trigger, cocking the lock or setting the trigger in any sequence.
