The 12 gauge barrels are 28" long, and swing nicely. The bores are bright and ready to accept our 12 gauge Circle Fly brand over-powder cards, fiber wads, and over-shot cards. Both barrels measure .725" at the muzzles. Use bismuth shot for waterfowl, or lead shot for upland game. Do not use steel shot in a muzzleloader. The barrel rib is fitted with a bead front sight. Both barrels are finished to a dark blue and appear to be near new. The top of the barrels and the rib are marked with the maker's and importer's information, along with the black powder warning.
The short engraved tang is color case hardened to match the locks. The rear of the tang does stand proud of the stock. The straight grip is checkered, and the beech stock is fitted with a black plastic buttplate. The buttplate does have a compression mark where it appears it was marked by something. The wide buttplate is nearly flat, comfortably with full loads. The triggerguard is polished and blued to match the barrels and has just a hint of light engraving. The factory wooden ramrod is fitted with a flared brass tip to seat wads and cards and rear is fitted with a brass tip threaded to accept 10-32 cleaning and loading accessories. The forend has a single key that retains the barrel. The key allows for quick disassembly for cleaning. Simply withdraw the ramrod, press out the key with firm thumb pressure, and lift the muzzle end, to dismount the barrels for easy cleaning.
Remove the two standard 1/4-28 nipples, using our #NW-120 nipple wrench, and immerse the breech end in a bucket of hot soapy water. Place a wet cleaning patch on our #Ramrod-C-29-10 cleaning rod, fitted with our #Jag-12-10 cleaning jag tip. Push the air out, and draw the water in, as you pump the ramrod the full length of each barrel, a few times. Change the water, and the patch. When the patch comes out clean, you are ready to wipe the bores dry, using a patch wetted with WD-40 or other water displacing oil. Never insert a dry patch. If you used hot water, the warm barrels will dry instantly.
The Navy Arms shotgun locks are color case hardened and engraved with a floral pattern. Both locks function correctly with strong springs, secure half-cock notches, and full cock notches that release smoothly with normal trigger finger pressure. The breeches are fitted with steel nipples for No. 11 percussion caps. Order our #RST-I if you need spares.
