A later Lancaster County style triggerguard, suitable for a "golden age era" longrifle made during the 1790-1820 period. This guard is a copy of an original by Melchior Fordney, a famous Lancaster maker whose rifles are distinctive for their wrists decorated with a flat checkered patter.
Overall length is 8-1/2", inside trigger bow is 2-3/8" long, and 1" deep.
