This alcohol based "water stain", may be thinned by dilution with water. Or use denatured (not rubbing) alcohol, to avoid raising grain. This walnut stain is a true walnut brown color, for a traditional look.

Color intensity is easily controlled by diluting the stain, or using it full strength for light colored woods.
