This scrimshawed powder horn is finished with a warm orange patina on the body and dark brown tip. The tip has a raised end to secure a strap, and an engrailed border to the horn body. The horn measures 13" around the outside curve from the tip to the end of the wood base. The acorn finial adds about 1" to the overall length. A horn band is fitted around the rear of the horn and small brass nails pass through it to secure the base to the horn. A carved shell shaped horn stopper is fitted. The horn is scrimshawed with a banner that reads, Battle of Quebec Anno 1759. The horn is also scrimshawed with a large Scottish thistle and a swan inside of a belt. A red woven strap with black and white accents is attached to the horn.
