This scrimshaw powder horn is finished with a cream colored body and a brown tip. The tip has a paneled end, raised lip to secure a strap, and engrailed border to the horn body. The horn measures 13-1/4" around the outside curve from the tip to the end of the wood base. Small wood pegs secure the base to the horn. The base has a weather appearance. A carved wooden stopper is fitted. The horn is scrimshaw engraved with a combination of black and red ink with; British Coat of Arms, hunting scene with dog and deer, sun, Indian warrior, and geometric designs and verse I, and my father are one. The style of the scrimshaw is combination of deep bold, and fine lines. The clean line work combined with the white space make the designs very legible from a distance. The base is initialed GW.
