This scrimshaw powder horn is finished with a warm yellow patina on the body and a dark brown to faun colored tip. The tip has a paneled end, raised lip to secure a strap, and smooth transition to the border to the horn body. The horn measures 12-1/2" around the outside curve from the tip to the end of the wood base. The horn has a 5/8" long raised lip to mount a strap. Small wood pegs secure the base to the horn. A turned wooden stopper is fitted and secured by a lanyard. The horn is scrimshaw engraved with a British Coat of Arms and map of New York and the Hudson River Valley.
