polished steel, 6-5/8" overall length,
in the style of F. Klette, Culpepper County, Virginia
Part Number: PB-KIT-10-I
Availability: In Stock

This patchbox kit has a neatly formed hinge, and is slightly curved to conform to the shape of your buttstock.

Tempered springs and instructions are included, to allow a cam-over-center closure, much like a modern cabinet hinge. Order our #PB-RK-TOW-I push-button patchbox release kit, with iron button, to install a spring loaded latch that snaps open when the release button is pressed, in the toe or comb.

Made of iron (low carbon steel), a few early Virginia longrifles were trimmed in iron. The steel is brush polished to a low luster, ready for sanding, polishing, blueing or browning.

We include nine #SCREW-6-1/2-O blued steel wood screws. Extra mounting screws are sold separately.

This patchbox was used on a Pre-Revolutionary War era American longrifle, by F. Klette, Culpepper County, Virginia, shown in Kentucky Rifles & Pistols, 1750 - 1850.

You may omit the side panels on either edge of the door, to replicate an early patchbox, or you may use the side panels included.

Overall length is about 6-5/8".

This brass patchbox is shown installed and engraved on this fine rifle by J. Eddie Brown and sold on our website.

The blued steel mounting screws have the slots neatly aligned to flow with the lines of the rifle. Brass screws are not found on original rifles.
