The second production of U.S. Model 1803 rifles used this buttplate, 4-1/4” high, 1-5/8” wide, with a wider bell shaped bottom. 15,703 rifles were made, from 1814 until 1819 using this buttplate. Wax cast of yellow brass, molded from an original. Notched at the side for the patchbox lid, to locate the patchbox, which is a bit longer than the patchbox used on the first production of U.S. Model 1803 rifles.

Overall length 4-1/4", width 1-5/8", comb 2-1/2".

Full size plans are available of an original US Model 1803 “Harper’s Ferry” rifle. These fine rifles were hand made to a standard pattern. Three variations are known. The later 1814 variation is more common, and is discussed in the plans. We offer all the castings for all three versions, molded directly from original rifle parts. Using our parts you can restore your fine original rifle, or make a correct replica using our shaped and pre-inlet walnut stock and octagon-to-round .54 caliber barrel by Colerain. We offer a separate 15
of advanced projects, #Catalog-TRS of Rifle Shoppe parts. See our book section.
