Suggested Fabrics to Use: Always use natural fiber fabrics for historical clothing! Very soft, light weight fabrics. Cotton: Batiste, Broadcloth, Calico, Challis, Dotted Swiss, Ginham, Lawn, Madras, Polished Cotton. Silk: Charmeuse, China Silk, Crepe de Chine, Fuji Silk, Habotai, Jacquard, Pongee, Surah, Shantang. Lightweight Rayon. Lining and Bustle: Cotton Broadcloth, Muslin, Batiste.
Notions: Thread, Lace trim: flat lace with 1 straight edge, 1-1/2-2" wide: 5 yards. For V-neck version, add 1 yard. Interfacing: 2 pieces 1 x 28" wide. Heavy carpet thread for ruching. Buttons: shank type, 48 1/2" diameter, V-Neck version: 36 1/2" diameter, for skirt: 1 flat 5/8" button. One small pillow bag pillow stuffing. Purchased fabric covered boning, 3 yards. Ribbon: for Polonaise, 3 yards 1/2" yard wide, and 1-1/2" yards at 1/8" wide. Ribbon for Bustle: 2" wide 3/8 yards, and waist measurement plus 24" at 3/4" wide.
