1878 Coach Gun,
12 gauge 3" chambers, 20" barrels,
checkered walnut, iron trim,
as-new, with box, by Pietta
The 12 gauge barrels are 20" long and chambered for up to 3" shot shells. The barrels' factory bluing is in excellent as-new condition. A small brass bead is fitted in the textured rib for easy sighting. All of the factory markings are found on the bottom of the barrels under the forearm. The bottom of the barrels are also marked by the importer KC-LLC Harrisburg-PA-USA. The serial number is found on the water table, along with the date code, indicating this shotgun was manufactured in 2024.
Stocked in walnut finished to a medium brown with satin sheen, the pistol grip stock shows only a few small handling marks from storage. A blued steel buttplate with no comb is fitted to the buttstock. The triggerguard is blued steel, along with the forearm release.
The locks have rebounding hammers to relieve pressure from the firing pins after firing, and to allow easy extraction of the cases, without dragging the firing pins across the shot shell. The sturdy hammers, featuring Colt's style, can be cocked together in a simple and safe manner. This shotgun can be easily opened with only one hand allowing for very fast reloading of the shells. A sliding tang safety adds an extra layer of security to the shotgun, and is quickly and easily operated. The manual sliding safety does not reset after firing the gun. The frame is blued and the locks are color case hardened. The triggers are polished bright and provide a smooth release of their locks.
