Used, this replica 1849 Colt Pocket Model revolver is .31 caliber with a five shot cylinder. The barrel and cylinder are blued. The frame and hammer are color case hardened in mottled colors. This example is not fitted with a loading lever. The triggerguard and backstrap are silver plated brass, which has tarnished from use. The bore is bright and has been well maintained. We note the hand spring is either weak or broken and the cylinder will not rotate when cocked with the muzzle pointed downward. If the muzzle is tipped up the revolver will cock.

The top of the 5" barrel is marked Allen F.A. MFG. Co. - Santa Fe N.M. and the left side is stamped Cal. 31. The bottom flat is stamped Black Powder Only. The barrel is fitted with a small brass bead front sight. To maximize sight radius the hammer has a "V" notch to act as the rear sight. The bluing on the barrel has many light scratches in the finish. The cylinder is factory engraved with the classic stagecoach scene, and has bright spots from the cylinder latch, and a drag line. The walnut grips are correctly oiled finish with a few small handling marks. The silver plated brass triggerguard and backstrap have started to tarnish. The right side of the frame is marked with Italian proof marks, required by their law. The left side is stamped A. Uberti & Co. / Italy in two lines.
