This used Kentucky pistol is stocked in curly maple and trimmed in engraved brass furniture with some nickel silver accents. The barrel is signed by Louis Smith of Johnson City, Tennessee and the furniture is hand engraved with the classic zig zag engraving he favored on the guns he produced. The pistol has a 8-1/'2" straight octagon .45 caliber barrel fitted to a Palmetto Barnett flintlock. This pistol likely dates from the 1970's and has a mellow patina from long storage.
Ignition for the pistol is provided by a Palmetto "Barnett" lock. This lock features rain gutters on the pan in very early 19th century flintlock fashion. The lock is based off the same internals as the Ashmore flintlocks used on many models of Dixie Gun Works locks. The lock is finished to a dark brown and has a few engraved accents. This lock sparks fair for a lock of this size. We recommend a 5/8" knapped flint for use with this lock. This lock does spark well for a smaller lock. Behind the pan a touch hole liner has been properly installed in the “sunset" position. Touch hole liners are internally coned and help bring the main charge closer to the priming charge, ensuring fast and reliable ignitions. The single trigger is pinned high to provide good leverage against the sear.
The 8-1/2" barrel has a nickel silver blade front sight located 1" behind the muzzle. A semi-buckhorn rear sight is dovetailed 2-1/2" ahead of the breech. The barrel is finished to a dark brown with some edge wear from handling and a few bright spot near the breech from the frizzen rubbing the side of the barrel. The bore is bright and has been well maintained.
Our bottom view shows off the aged brass furniture of the pistol. The butt has a buttcap that extends up to the mid-point of the grip, and is decorated with zig zag engraving. The triggerguard is shaped with paneled flats on the front finial and a rounded bow. The triggerguard has been accented with hand engraving. The skirt on the ramrod entry pipe is also accented with engraving. The ramrod has no provisions for threaded accessories. The side panel is fitted with a sideplate with pointed arrow finial and engraved border and shell design below the rear lock bolt.

Else if it does not fit you, return it in unfired condition for same-day refund. Postage is your only risk, when you order any one-of-a-kind gun from Track, whether new, used, or antique.
