Known as the Colt Model 1860 Army Revolver, the term "Army" indicates that it is .44 caliber. Issued by the United States Historical Society this 1860 Navy revolver is decorated with a inlaid gold engraving commemorating "Buffalo Bill" William F. Cody. The steel frame and barrel were highly polished and finished to a dark blue. The cylinder is engraved with wild west scenes including Bison, Indian head, and Buffalo Bill on horseback.
This presentation grade revolver has a cherry case with a dark green velvet lining. The case includes a engraved cap box, powder flask, six round balls, nipple wrench, bullet mold, and white gloves. This example has the original paperwork and the shipping box. Our top view shows the 8" blued barrel with brass blade front sight. A notch in the hammer, serves as a rear sight. In addition to the engraved William F. Cody the top of the barrel is inlaid with gold floral wreaths. Our bottom view shows the blued loading lever, wedge key, and the highly polished and gold plated brass triggerguard and grip strap. The grips are faux ivory. The side of the barrel is engraved and gold inlaid with Buffalo Bill mounted on a horse with hat in hand. The frame has a inlaid gold stage coach scene.
