The 10" octagon .50 caliber Green Mountain barrel is cut rifled with eight lands a grooves with a fast twist appropriate for shooting patched round ball from a pistol. The bore is bright, clean, and ready to shoot. The exterior is finished to a smooth chocolate brown. The Green Mountain logo and 50 CAL is stamped on the right oblique flat just under the rear sight. The tall flat top rear sight is dovetailed 1-3/4" ahead of the breech. A tall brass blade front sight is dovetailed directly behind the muzzle. A single bolt passes through the flared tang of the breech plug to engage the trigger plate below. Two small keys pass directly through the stock to retain the barrel to the forearm.
The grip has a gentle curve to allow easy sighting. We note the end of the grip has a repaired crack that runs through the stock. The shaping is only fair on this pistol and the stock is finished to a sandy blond. The triggerguard is mounted with a screw in the grip rail, and two screws through the front finial. The nickel silver triggerguard shows many file marks from the build process that were not polished out. The tapered wooden ramrod is fitted with a brass tip threaded to accept 10-32 cleaning and loading accessories. The threaded hole is shallow and we recommend our #PL-6-50 to service this pistol. The ramrod passes through a single brass ramrod pipe that is epoxied in the ramrod channel of the stock. Two lock bolts pass directly through the stock without the use of sideplates to secure the small Siler flint lock.
The small Siler flintlock has a Germanic appearance with faceted pan and pointed tail. The lock is finished to an antique gray patina. We recommend our 5/8" by 3/4" knapped English gun flints for best performance in this lock. We note the lock does not hold in the half-cock position. A stainless steel vent liner is well centered and positioned at the top edge of the pan to provide best ignition. The single trigger provides a smooth release of the lock.
This pistol is offered with a bright clean bore. The lock does not hold in the half-cock position. Some polishing and wood removal would make this a sleek pistol to carry at your next reenactment.
