This Kentucky-style belt pistol features a walnut stock, stained to a reddish-brown, and trimmed in polished brass furniture. The .54 caliber, 15/16" by 7" straight octagon barrel is mated to an L&R John Bailes flintlock. This belt pistol is as new, unfired by contemporary maker Kenneth Lincavage.

Finished to contrast the barrel, the L&R John Bailes flintlock has a crisp action and a well-hardened frizzen. When using our best 5/8" knapped English gun flints, #FLINT-ENG-5, the lock will throw a shower of sparks into the pan. A stainless steel vent liner is well centered, positioned at the midpoint between the bottom and top edges of the pan. The handmade trigger is pinned high to provide good leverage against the sear.

The .54 caliber by 7" straight octagon barrel has a polished and blued finish. The bore is rifled with 1 in 18" twist, ideal for a pistol. The barrel is dovetailed with a handmade nickel silver blade front sight and flat top rear sight. The slender forearm flares into the lock panels. The lock panels gently taper into the slender grip, which flares at the bottom of the bag-style grip.

The pistol is fitted with a polished brass triggerguard with acorn finial, a typical English theme meant to symbolize the strength of English oak and of England. The tapered ramrod is mounted to the stock through a folded sheet brass ramrod pipe. The ramrod is fitted with a flared brass tip with 8-32 threads for accessories. We suggest using one of our pistol loading rods with 10-32 threads for loading and cleaning. The side panel of the stock is fitted with a brass tear drop sideplate for each lock bolt.
