This is the classic 1840 era saw handle grip architecture, popular with early percussion gun makers in the New York and New England area. The percussion lock is color case hardened with muted colors. Double lever double set triggers are fitted to this saw-handle grip pistol, making it ideal for offhand pistol competition shooting. Trigger release is hair light, and screw adjustable, when the rear trigger is latched before firing.

The blued barrel has a brass blade front sight and adjustable rear sight. The barrel is marked TRADITIONS - TRAPPER - .50 caliber - 1:20". The fast twist is ideal for a .50 caliber patch round ball, in a pistol.. The bluing is in excellent condition with only a few small marks on the top flat. The wooden ramrod has brass tips with 10-32 threads for loading and cleaning accessories.

The hooked breech and single wedge key allow the barrel and breech plug to be dismounted with a firm amount of finger pressure. No tools are needed to dismount this barrel for cleaning, but you should use our #NW-170 nipple wrench, sold separately, to remove the small blued steel nipple, when flushing the barrel. Two blued lock bolts, encompassed by brass escutcheon plates, secure the lock.
