This revolver has both the fancy full fluted cylinder, for lightest weight, and the four screw frame, which will accept the Cavalry shoulder stock accessory, sold elsewhere. This revolver is unfired, and appears as-new. The cylinder does not appear to have been turned or spun. We found no tell-tale tiny marks in the blue, where the cylinder bolt latches the cylinder. It has been stored for a long period in the foam carton and the brass has darkened. This example has some very nice figure on the walnut grips.
Should you decide to fire this revolver. Each chamber will hold 30 grains of FFFg powder. We recommend .454" balls, and 20 grains of GOEX FFFg powder, for best accuracy and best compression. Cover each ball with a small amount of our #LUBE-SPG bullet lubricant grease. Despite your best efforts, this revolver will need to be cleaned after 12 or 18 shots. Remove the wedge, barrel, and cylinder. Wipe the face of the cylinder, and wipe the cylinder pin. If you continue to load and fire a badly fouled revolver, the effort needed to cock and fire the gun will become greater, causing the small internal hand, spring, and cylinder latch to become worn and slightly damaged. Continued abuse will cause the cylinder and latch to become out-of-time. Simple cleaning and maintenance will prevent problems. Prized by collectors, this pistol was made to be a precision shooter.
The .44 caliber, 8" barrel is fitted with blade front sight. The rear sight is a notch in the hammer. The barrel is marked ~ ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW-YORK CITY ~ on the top. The revolver has a blued steel backstrap. The brass triggerguard has aged to a mellow patina from long storage. The loading lever is attractively color case hardened. The front edge of the color case hardened frame is stamped Colt's Patent U.S. below the front of the cylinder. The brass triggerguard is marked .44 cal.
The second generation black COLT factory carton, foam lined, with original paperwork and hang tag are included.
