This scrimshawed powder horn is finished with a warm brown patina on the body and tip. The tip has raised rings to secure a strap, and wedding band border to the horn body. The horn measures 13" around the outside curve from the tip to the end of the wood base. The iron staple adds about 1/2" to the overall length. Small wood and iron pegs secure the base to the horn. A turned wooden stopper is fitted and secured with a woven lanyard. The horn is scrimshawed with a Federal eagle clutching an olive brand and sheaf of arrows. The left side has a heron and fish with a panel for the owner's name.
