This 1860 Colt Army .44 caliber percussion revolver appears to be as-new. The 8" round barrel is finished dark blue and the bore is bright, having been well maintained. The loading lever, steel frame, and hammer are color case hardened. The roll-engraved scene on the cylinder depicts a famous battle of sailing ships at sea. The triggerguard and backstrap are polished brass. The walnut grips are stained a reddish brown. This is the three screw frame civilian version, and does not have the provisions to mount a shoulder stock. Manufactured by Aldo Uberti & Co. of Italy.

The top of the barrel is stamped -Address Cimmaron Fredericksburg, Texas-. The A. Uberti markings and warnings are neatly hidden on the bottom the barrel and covered by the loading lever. A brass blade front sight is mounted near the muzzle. A notch in the hammer, serves as a rear sight. The notch in the hammer is small, for those who prefer a fine sight picture. The cylinder is fitted with the factory blued steel nipples. These factory nipples can be small for American manufactured percussion caps. We recommend replacing the factory nipples with our #PTC-PI 12-28 hardened steel nipples designed for CCI No. 11 percussion caps.

The factory recommends .451" round balls, and each chamber will hold 30 grains of FFFg powder. We recommend .454" balls, and 21 grains of GOEX FFFg powder, for best accuracy and best compression. Cover each ball with a small amount of our #LUBE-SPG bullet lubricant grease. Despite your best efforts, this revolver will need to be cleaned after 12 or 18 shots. Remove the wedge, barrel, and cylinder. Wipe the face of the cylinder, and wipe the cylinder pin.

If you continue to load and fire a badly fouled revolver, the effort needed to cock and fire the gun will become greater, causing the small internal hand, spring, and cylinder latch to become worn and slightly damaged. Continued abuse will cause the cylinder and latch to become out-of-time. Simple cleaning and maintenance will prevent problems.
