This used revolver is a Colt Second Model Dragoon revolver, it has a 7-1/2" blued barrel, factory engraved cylinder, color case hardened steel frame, brass back strap, brass triggerguard, and walnut grips. A bit larger and more powerful than the Colt 1860 Army, the Dragoon was an early favorite. Differentiated from the popular Third Model, the Second Model has squared cylinder notches and a squared trigger bow, where as these features are rounded on the Third Model. Manufactured by Aldo Uberti & Co. of Italy.

The 7-1/2" tapered round barrel has the CAL .44, BLACK POWDER ONLY, A. UBERTI, ITALY marks hidden under the loading lever. The loading lever displays a small amount of wear near the pivot point, and the blue finish has a few small speckles on the left side near the wedge key. This revolver does not display heavy signs of normal wear from firing, and disassembly for cleaning. No markings can be found on the top of the barrel. The brass triggerguard and backstrap have become slightly tarnished with time and storage. This tarnish is the result of normal handling, and can be wiped away to restore the brilliant factory polish, if you wish. This replica is a fine example of a Dragoon revolver. The frame, hammer, and loading lever are color case hardened in mottled colors. The barrel and cylinder are blued. We admire the correct reddish brown color of the grips that match the original Colt issue colors.

The factory recommends .454" round balls, and each chamber will hold 35 grains of FFFg powder. Cover each ball with a small amount of our #LUBE-SPG bullet lubricant grease. Despite your best efforts, this revolver will need to be cleaned after 12 or 18 shots. Remove the wedge, barrel, and cylinder. Wipe the face of the cylinder, and wipe the cylinder pin. If you continue to load and fire a badly fouled revolver, the effort needed to cock and fire the gun will become greater, causing the small internal hand, spring, and cylinder latch to become worn and slightly damaged. Continued abuse will cause the cylinder and latch to become out-of-time. Simple cleaning and maintenance will prevent problems.
