This scrimshawed flat powder horn has a decorative border around the base with a scrimshaw Indian head in the style found on John Rupp longrifles ahead of the triggerguard. The left hand side has a mandala with a 1757 date worked into the design. The horn has a dark brown tip with a brown to creamy white colored base. The neck of the horn has raised ring to secure a strap, and scrimshaw border transition to the body. A iron staple is mounted in the base. The horn measures 9-1/2" around the outside curve from the tip to the end of the wood base. Small wood pegs secure the base to the horn. A turned wooden stopper is fitted and secured with a lanyard to prevent loss.
