This small percussion halfstock rifle is stocked in walnut, trimmed in browned iron furniture, and features a .22 caliber barrel. The rifle is offered in used condition, with a clean well maintained bore. It comes with an aluminum swaging block and a box of .216 lead air gun slugs. Weight is 5.1 pounds and the rifle has a trigger reach of 13" making it well suited for today's smaller size or youth shooter.

The .22 caliber 23" long barrel is 3/4" straight octagon. The bore is rifled with six lands and grooves, and has been well maintained. This rifle comes with an aluminum swaging block. We recommend loading the swagged bullet on top of 15 grains of 3F powder. A small solid brass ramrod is used for loading. The ramrod is threaded 8-32 to accept a long .22 caliber jag, which extends past the muzzle. The barrel is finished to a smooth chocolate brown. It is fitted with a nickel silver blade front sight set in a brass base dovetailed 1" behind the muzzle, and a flat top rear sight dovetailed 7-3/4" ahead of the breech. The straight tang of the breech plug is retained with a wood screw. A large steel pin secures the barrel to the forearm. We note the barrel channel has been bedded.

The walnut stock is finished to a medium brown with gloss finish. The stock has only fair shaping and fitting, with filler used around the buttplate. The buttstock is fitted with an iron crescent buttplate to engage the shooter's shoulder. A poured pewter nose cap protects the end grain of the stock and serves as the ramrod entry pipe. The toe of the rifle is fitted with a browned iron toeplate mounted with steel screws. The iron triggerguard is mounted with pins and is wide enough to accept the double lever double set triggers. No cheek is shaped on the side of the buttstock and the single lock bolt passes directly through the stock without the use of a sideplate.

Ignition for the rifle is provided by a percussion "Becky's Lock" that has been polished bright. Light file marks and scratches can still be seen on the lock. A 1/4-28 stainless steel nipple is fitted to the browned drum. The double lever double set triggers are properly adjusted to fire from the set, or unset position. You may set the triggers before, or after cocking the lock. Adjust the screw between the two triggers, inboard to reduce set trigger release pressure, our outboard to require a stronger pressure. The set trigger can provide very light release, perhaps an ounce or two, for accurate aimed shooting during pleasant weather.

This halfstock .22 muzzleloader will be a joy to plink with at the range, or carry on your next small game hunt. The bore is bright and has been well maintained. Order it for a ten day visual inspection. You will be delighted. Else if it does not fit you, return it in unfired condition for same-day refund. Postage is your only risk, when you order any one-of-a-kind gun from Track, whether new, used, or antique.
