This antique double barrel percussion shotgun is stocked in walnut and trimmed in iron furniture. The barrels have a dark brown finish, while the locks and furniture have aged to a silvery gray patina. The stock has a scattered handling marks typical of firearms that have been handled for 100+ years. Modern nipples have been installed on this shotgun. Trigger reach is 14-3/4" and 13-3/4" to fit today's average size shooter. Weight is 8.3 pounds.

The 13 gauge, .712" diameter by 30" long Damascus barrels have frosted bores with a few scattered pits visible. They should be very shootable. We suggest our 13 gauge wands and cards for this shotgun. The barrels have a brown finish with the Damascus pattern slightly visible. The top barrel rib is stamped REAL TWIST near the breech. The ribs are solid with no loose solder. A brass bead is set in the rib 1/2" behind the muzzles. The bottom of the barrels are marked with Liege, Belgium proof marks.

The walnut stock has been varnished to a dark brown and shows scattered dings and scratches from over a century of handling and use. A shotgun buttplate is fitted to the stock with engraving along the widows peak comb. The long tang of the hooked breech is decorated with scroll engraving. The triggerguard is also scroll engraved and is retained with two screws on the grip rail. No cheek is carved on the stock, allowing it to be shot by a right or left handed shooter. The wrist is checkered, and both the wrist and forearm have a well handled appearance with lightening of the varnish finish.

A single wedge key passes through nickel silver escutcheons inlet into the forearm of the stock to secure the barrel. The wedge key is captured to prevent loss. Removing the wedge key allows the hooked breech barrels to be removed from the stock. A long engraved skirted iron entry pipe and two iron ramrod pipes soldered to the barrel's under rib secure the wooden ramrod. The ramrod is a replacement, and it is fitted with a brass loading tip on the muzzle end and the opposite end is fitted with a brass covered ball puller. We recommend our sturdy bend rod #RAMROD-C-36-10 to service this shotgun.

The percussion locks are unmarked and have the same patina as the furniture. The hammers and lock plates are decorated with the same scroll engraving as the rest of the metal on the shotgun. Both hammers have some chipping on the hammer cups. The locks are crisp with secure half cock and full cock notches. The nipples are both modern stainless steel replacements to accept No. 11 percussion caps.
