Antique Double Barrel Pistol,
28 gauge, 10-1/2" barrels,
percussion conversion locks, walnut, steel trim,
for display or restoration

The 10-1/2" double barrels have aged to a dark brown and you can still faintly see the wire twist pattern if you roll them in the light. The bores are 28 gauge or 0.55" diameter. Both bores are dark. A small steel blade sight is fitted behind the muzzle. The breech has a "U" shaped notch in the tang to act as a rear sight.
The front action locks were originally flintlock and you can see the filled holes from the frizzen, and frizzen spring. The locks have a Germanic appearance with a molding filed across the tail. The right hand lock sear is not contacting the right trigger. The lock does function correctly. This pistol does have two lock bolts securing the locks from the left lock to the right hand lock. The front lock bolt is threaded into a blind hole on the right hand lock. The left hand lock has some play free play on the tumbler shank. Both nipples are very battered and broken. This pistol appears to have been repeatedly dry fired and both nipples are mushroomed and broken.
The walnut stock has aged to a dark brown with many handling marks. The grip is fitted with a iron buttcap and retainer. The triggerguard is shaped with a wide bow for the two triggers and acorn finial. The ramrod pipes are shaped with raised rings on the ends and the entry pipe has a thumbnail skirt. The breech design appears to be a hooked breech design, but the stock is pinned instead of using wedge keys. The right hand side of the stock has about a 1" long chip behind the muzzle.
