Designed by John M. Browning, the Model 95 was the first successful box-magazine lever gun to be produced. Due to the box magazine, this rifle has a distinctive profile unlike any previous Winchester lever action rifle. This rifle is chambered in .30 U.S. (today known as the .30-40 Krag). The 28" tapered round barrel is fitted with a step adjustable Rocky Mountain rear sight. Manufactured in 1907 this rifle must be shipped to your FFL dealer. The trigger reach is 12-5/8", and the rifle weighs 8.5 pounds.

This rifle was chambered for the new high-powered smokeless ammunition introduced during this period. The Model 1895 rifle became popular with hunters for most big game animals around the world. The bore is bright and has been well maintained. Stocked in walnut, the buttstock has a classic appearance with a modestly curved crescent buttplate to engage the shooter's shoulder. The walnut forend is shaped with a schnabel tip with a ebony inset. Both the forearm and the buttstock have many small dents, dings, and handling marks. The right hand side of the wrist has a visible crack, but the buttstock does seem solid.

The top of the action is now a faded gray. The tang of the action is marked -Winchester- Model 1895. The breech of the barrel is marked .30 U.S., while the barrel is marked Nickel Steel Barrel Especially for Smokeless Powder. The 28" tapered round barrel is fitted with a Rocky Mountain step adjustable rear sight. The front sight is a large elevated blade sight. The bottom view shows the distinctive box magazine of this model and the lever triggerguard lever which cycles the action.

The action has mostly faded to a mottled gray patina, with only trace amounts of the blue remaining on a few areas that do not see much handling. The action is stamped Manufactured by the Winchester Repeating Arms Co. / New Haven Conn. U.S.A. Pat Nov. 5 95, Nov 12 95, Aug. 17 97, Jan. 25 98, Aug 23 98. A symmetrical rifle, this could be used by right or left hand shooters with equal ease. Smooth working, this powerful rifle is ideal for deer hunting.

Ammunition is included. Two full boxes, 40 rounds of .30-40 Krag Remington Express Core Lokt cartridges. It also includes 17 loose fired brass cases. Reloading tools are available separately.
