Joseph Long, Snyder County, Pennsylvania pre shaped stock,
pre-inlet, 13/16" octagon 42" barrel, small Siler lock
This slim fullstock is made in the style of Joseph Long. Born in 1799, he was a prolific maker in Snyder County, Pennsylvania, from 1832 until his death in 1872. Inlet for a 13/16" straight octagon 42" barrel, drilled for a 3/8" ramrod, this graceful late longrifle stock has a balustrade (rail-like) wrist. A small Siler lock is pre-inlet, allowing you to build percussion or flint. Not inlet for trigger, so inlet your favorite double set trigger. The forend is square ahead of the lock panels. An extra piece of maple, cut from the same blank, is included for testing stains and finishes. Pull is 13-3/4", drop is 3-3/4" from the line of sights. Buttplate end is 4-3/4 x 1-3/8", cut for our #BP-SPW-19 buttplate.
