for a

This sculptured Serpentine style sideplate later evolved to become a sea serpent on North West Trade Guns. Use this on very early English fowlers and muskets.

Undrilled, the oval shaped hole pads allow 3.0 to 3.2" lock bolt hole spacing. We recommend about 3.0" and trimming the pads evenly around the edge of the bolt head. The front bolt hole tab is sometimes removed, for use as a fancy single bolt sideplate, on fowling guns.

Iron (wax cast malleable steel), we recommend wire brushing with very fine bristles, and polishing the sculptured surface. Made in the USA.

It may be installed in a shallow inlet, but is most often surface mounted. Debur the flat back surface, before installation. Made for right hand use, it is possible to inlet it flush with the side panel, for left hand use.
