Saint Louis was the gateway to the West, and the home of Hawken, Gemmer, Dimick, and other makers. This well illustrated text shows rifles and pistols of the 1820 to 1870 era. The chapter on pistols reveals that firms in the east supplied complete part sets to gunmakers, similar to today's kits. Hard bound, 9 x 12" format, 200 pages.
