Part Number: AAW-608
Availability: In Stock
Price: $1,299.00
Stocked in maple, this Kentucky flint pistol has a .45 caliber 9" octagon barrel with a bright well maintained bore. The pistol is fitted with an L&R flintlock and trimmed in brass furniture. It will look great tucked in your belt at your next reenactment. This pistol points naturally and weighs 2.0 pounds.

The .45 caliber 9" octagon barrel is rifled with five equal size lands and grooves with a slow twist for a patched round ball. The barrel is finished to a smooth silvery-brown. The bore is bright, clean, and ready to shoot. A silver blade front sight set in a brass base is dovetailed directly behind the muzzle. A flat top rear sight is dovetailed 1" ahead of the breech. The silver blade nearly fills the small V notch, making a nice sight picture. The left flat is stamped .45 and the left oblique flat is stamped RB near the breech.

The maple stock is finished to a medium brown with reddish undertone, and a smooth hand rubbed oil finish. The stock has a few handling marks from use. The top view shows the short straight tang. A single bolt passes through to engage the trigger guard below. The barrel is retained to the forearm with two small iron pins. Viewed from the bottom, the brass triggerguard and ramrod pipes are shown. Notice the octagon flats on the ramrod pipes, to echo the octagon theme of the barrel. The wooden ramrod is fitted with a brass tip threaded to accept 8-32 cleaning and loading accessories. The brass triggerguard is highly polished, and also has octagon flats on the forward end. A brass muzzle cap protects the end grain of the stock. The brass sideplate is inlet flush and has a single bolt that engages the lock on the opposite side. All of the brass has aged to a mellow patina.

The L&R John Bailes flintlock has a crisp action and a well hardened frizzen. The lock has been finished to match the barrel. When using our best 5/8" knapped English gun flints, #FLINT-ENG-5, the lock will throw a shower of sparks into the pan. The stainless steel vent liner is perfectly centered, positioned well above the pan, for sure-fire ignition. The simple curled trigger has good leverage against the sear, for a nice light trigger release.

This pistol will be a joy to shoot at the range or to carry tucked in your sash at your next reenactment. The bore is bright and this pistol is ready to shoot! Order it for a ten day visual inspection. You will be delighted. Else if it does not fit you, return it in unfired condition for same-day refund. Postage is your only risk, when you order any one-of-a-kind gun from Track, whether new, used, or antique.
