Known as the COLT Model 1860 Army revolver, this revolver is beautifully finished, with a blued round barrel, fancy full fluted cylinder, color case hardened frame and loading lever, blued steel back-strap and triggerguard, and reddish brown walnut grips. This revolver has both the fancy full fluted cylinder, for lightest weight, and the four screw frame, which will accept the Cavalry shoulder stock accessory, sold elsewhere. The revolver is used with a bright well maintained bore. The cylinder has a drag line from being cocked. The wedge shows marks from being removed, along with marks in the finish around the wedge on the barrel assembly. The right side of the barrel has blemishes in the finish from long storage in the case, and there are some light scratches near the muzzle. This revolver comes in a red velvet lined wooden display case with a reproduction brass bullet mold, cap tin, and a Second Generation Colt's Patent powder flask with angled spout.

Should you decide to fire this revolver. Each chamber will hold 30 grains of FFFg powder. We recommend .454" balls, and 20 grains of GOEX FFFg powder, for best accuracy and best compression. Cover each ball with a small amount of our #LUBE-SPG bullet lubricant grease. Despite your best efforts, this revolver will need to be cleaned after 12 or 18 shots. Remove the wedge, barrel, and cylinder. Wipe the face of the cylinder, and wipe the cylinder pin. If you continue to load and fire a badly fouled revolver, the effort needed to cock and fire the gun will become greater, causing the small internal hand, spring, and cylinder latch to become worn and slightly damaged. Continued abuse will cause the cylinder and latch to become out-of-time. Simple cleaning and maintenance will prevent problems. Prized by collectors, this pistol was made to be a precision shooter.

The .44 caliber, 8" barrel is fitted with blade front sight. The rear sight is a notch in the hammer. The barrel is marked ~ ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW-YORK CITY ~ on the top. The revolver has a blued steel backstrap. The brass triggerguard has aged to a mellow patina from long storage. The loading lever is attractively color case hardened. The front edge of the color case hardened frame is stamped Colt's Patent U.S. below the front of the cylinder. The brass triggerguard is marked .44 cal.

The wooden display case measures 15-3/4" long, by 7-5/8" wide, and 2-1/2" tall. The case has many small dings and marks. The red velvet lining shows wear from long storage. A small brass key is included. The cap tin and brass bullet mold are reproductions. The Second Generation Colt's Patent powder flask has some light scratches in the finish.

This used Second Generation revolver will be a joy to shoot at the range, and display in your gun room. It comes with a wooden display case and accessories.
