This bag and horn set was handmade by award winning artisan Frank Willis, and is stamped on the back with his maker's mark of a W in a circle. The back of the bag is also marked VRC 11/200. The military style double bag is made of black leather and measures 8-1/2" wide by 7" tall. The main compartment has a 4" by 5-1/2" flat pocket sewn on the inside. The bag is hand sewn with waxed linen thread with leather welts to protect the stitching. The flap secures with an inside strap and brass button. The leather strap measures 54" long by 2-1/8" wide and adjusts with a brass belt shield. A brush and pick are attached to the strap with brass chains. The powder horn straps are integral to the bag strap and adjust with small brass buckles. The straps are sewn to iron eyelets attached to the top of the horn, and this set is meant to be worn on the left side.

The hand made powder horn measures 11" long, as measured around the outer curve. The body of the cow horn is a natural cream color. The 2-3/4" wide, turned maple butt plug is retained by small wooden pegs. The turned rear horn final unscrews to allow for easy filling. A brass pouring spout is retained with small iron nails, and has a spring loaded stopper.

This used military style pouch will be of great interest to the Lewis & Clark or early military reenactor. Order it for a ten day visual inspection. You will be delighted.
