This unique underhammer pistol is offered as used with a bright well maintained bore. It features an octagon-to-round .40 caliber Green Mountain barrel, and is fitted with a comfortable walnut grip to provide a steady hold when aiming. Notice the curved trigger, which has excellent trigger geometry, and smooth trigger release. The large trigger bow acts as the mainspring for the hammer. This handy target pistol weighs 2.5 pounds.
Overall barrel length is 13-3/4" but the assembly is divided, with 8" of barrel length forward and the rear 5-3/4" housing the internals of the underhammer action. The Green Mountain barrel is turned round the last 6" with a double wedding band transition. The .40 caliber bore is cut rifled with eight equal size lands and grooves with a fast twist for shooting patched round ball. Green Mountain Barrels are machined from high quality American made bar stock, A.I.S.I. 1137 modified, stress relieved, annealed, certified rifle barrel quality steel. All barrels are drilled from solid stock, reamed to a high degree of smoothness, then optically checked for straightness. Very close tolerances are maintained. The barrel is polished bright and the right oblique flat is marked with the Green Mountain logo and 40 CAL. The front sight is an iron blade pressed and JB welded into an iron base dovetailed directly behind the muzzle. The rear sight is step adjustable and dovetailed to allow for the maximum sight radius. We note the bluing has been sanded off the front portion of the rear sight. A brass flash cup is fitted around the nipple. We recommend our #PL-6-40 to service this pistol.
