This .45 caliber flintlock Target Pistol is stocked in walnut and fitted with an iron triggerguard with finger spur. The bottom of the grip is capped and decorated with a carved bone hunter's star. The gun is built with French styling, and a man-sized grip. The bore is bright and has been well maintained. This pistol is fitted with a CVA Maslin flintlock and single set trigger. This handy target pistol weighs 2.2 pounds.
The .45 caliber 10-3/4" rifled bore has six lands and grooves with a fast twist for shooting patched round ball. The bore is bright, clean, and ready to shoot. The barrel is finished to a smooth silvery-brown. The finish has a many light scratches and bright spots from normal cleaning and use. A browned iron blade front sight is dovetailed directly behind the muzzle. The top of the sight is painted white for better visibility. A flat top rear sight is dovetailed in the rear of the barrel to maximize the sight radius, for best accuracy. A single bolt passes through the rear of the long straight tang to engage the trigger plate below. A large steel pin retains the barrel to the forearm. No rib, ramrod pipes, or ramrod are fitted to this target pistol. We recommend our #PL-6-45 to service this pistol.
The CVA Maslin flintlock is factory color case hardened and functions correctly. The vent liner is positioned well above the bottom of the pan, centered on the heat of the flash. If your flint longrifle suffers from that infamous slow whoosh-bang ignition delay, study the work of today's best gun makers, and position your vent well centered on the pan, high above the bottom, to serve as a window on the center of the flash. The single set trigger is double phase, it will fire the lock, set or unset. Push the trigger forward until it latches to set the trigger. The trigger adjustment screw directly behind the trigger controls the engagement in the set position.
