This Thompson Center CHEROKEE Rifle is used with some handling marks on the stock and blue barrel finish. The bore is mostly bright with a few minor speckles. Right hand, percussion, the Cherokee rifle was originally manufactured in smaller caliber with a maximum of .45 caliber barrel. This is the .45 caliber version, with a 24" blued octagon barrel and double lever double set triggers. Although the Cherokee rifle was discontinued several years ago, after Thompson Center's factory fire, it remains a popular model. These handy rifles have a 13-5/8" trigger reach to fit todays average shooter. The rifle is light weight, only 5.3 pounds. Ideal for ladies, or properly supervised youngsters.

The .45 caliber barrel is legal for hunting whitetail deer in most states. We recommend a .440" diameter ball with a .015" thick patch, or try a .45 caliber T/C Maxi ball for larger game. This example is fitted with the patridge blade front sight and square notch adjustable rear sight. The bore does have a very few small scattered speckles, but nothing that can be felt with a cleaning patch.

The walnut stock has a few small scattered handling marks. The brass furniture has aged to a mellow patina. The middle ramrod pipe has a swivel lug added, and a swivel stud is mounted in the toe of the stock. We do make a replica of this ramrod pipe if you wish to replace it #RP-TCH-H-5-I. The factory wood ramrod has been replaced by a synthetic ramrod with a flared brass end and a 10-32 threaded end for accessories.

The hooked breech allows the barrel to be easily dismounted for cleaning without risk of wetting the stock with water containing black powder residue. To dismount the barrel, put the lock on half cock, withdraw the ramrod, drift the keys past the underlug, and the barrel can be lifted from the barrel channel for ease of cleaning. Remove the nipple and place the breech end of the barrel in a bucket of soapy water. Run a wet patch down and up the bore, the pumping action will flush all the fouling from the barrel. Once the bore is clean, run a dry patch down the bore to pick up any moisture followed by a oily patch. Dry and oil the exterior then reassemble the rifle.

The percussion lock is color case hardened and shows some fading near the hammer from handling. . The powerful coil mainspring provides fast lock time, and reliable ignition. The breech end of the barrel is fitted with a 12-28 nipple, order our #PTC-S for a spare. Double lever double set triggers are properly tuned to fire from the set or unset position. You can set the triggers before or after you cock the lock. The set trigger can be adjusted for trigger pull, by adjusting the screw mounted between the triggers.

This Thompson Center Cherokee percussion rifle is lightweight and handy. The stock has a very few marks. Sling swivel mounts have been added. The .45 caliber bore has a few minor speckles. Order it for a ten day visual inspection. You will be delighted. Else if it does not fit you, return it in unfired condition for same-day refund. Postage is your only risk, when you order any one-of-a-kind gun from Track, whether new, used, or antique.
