This rifle is as new with the factory carton. Stocked in walnut stained beech, the rifle has been fitted with brass furniture. The Traditions percussion lock has been color case hardened. Double lever double set triggers will fire set or unset. Trigger reach is 13-3/4" to fit todays average size shooter. This rifle weighs 8.1 pounds.
The 33-1/2" length .36 caliber rifled barrel is just over 7/8" octagon. The barrel has a conventional crown for easy loading, and is rifled with a caliber appropriate 1-48" twist, ideal for patched round ball and the bore is bright in as-new condition. The barrel is finished to a deep blue color. A brass blade front sight is fitted. The rear sight is a Rocky Mountain style step adjustable rear sight.
Stained a medium brown, the hardwood stock is as-new. The brass furniture has mellowed from long storage. The brass patchbox has a cam over center door. The patchbox is over inlet with a darker filler used to fill the inletting gaps. The patchbox is mounted with correct steel screws. The wrist itself is slender and delicate, leading into the short tang of the breech. The long brass toeplate and triggerguard are retained by blued steel screws. Forward the barrel has been pinned into position. Below the barrel the ramrod is held by a single entry pipe and forward pipe. The .36 caliber versions of this rifle use a 7mm diameter metal ramrod with 10-32 threads for loading and cleaning accessories. Our final look at the rifle reveals the two lock bolts that each engage a brass “washer" style escutcheon plate. Note that no cheek has been formed on the rifle, making it fairly symmetrical.
Ignition is provided by this Traditions percussion lock with engraved plate, hammer and color case hardened finish. A drum and nipple is fitted to barrel. The nipple is a 6-1mm thread. Fitted with a double set trigger that can be tuned to the exact trigger pull you desire. These triggers can be fired from both set and unset position. This is a nice feature being quite versatile when using the gun for target or hunting.
