If your percussion revolver has a sharp cylinder mouth, it may cut a lead ring, reducing accuracy. Chamfer the mouth of each chamber, slightly, until the ball seats snugly, without cutting lead. You may prefer to slightly increase the amount of chamfer at each chamber on this revolver, if shaves lead from a round ball or bullet, during loading. Use our #BC-PSP blue pen to retouch the bright cylinder mouth.
Despite your best efforts, any percussion revolver will need to be cleaned after 12 or 18 shots. Remove the wedge, barrel, and cylinder. Wipe the face of the cylinder, and wipe the cylinder pin. If you continue to load and fire a badly fouled revolver, the effort needed to cock and fire the gun will become greater, causing the small internal hand, spring, and cylinder latch to become worn and slightly damaged. Continued use will cause the cylinder and latch to become out-of-time. Simple wiping, cleaning, and normal maintenance will prevent problems, and insure a lifetime of good service!
