The breeches are fitted with hardened steel nipples for No. 11 caps. The 13-1/2" and 14-1/4" length of pull should fit todays average shooter. The rifle weighs 10.8 pounds and is fitted with sling swivels. The rifle is used with some handling marks on the stock and wear on the blue finish.
This is a older production example and the .54 caliber barrels are rifled with slow twist, approximately 1 in 60" twist, unlike the current production with the 1 in 24" twist rate. The elevated front sight ramp is mounted to the rib, fitted with a gold bead front sight. Two folding leaf rear sights are mounted at the breech. Each rear sight is individually adjustable for elevation and windage. The example has minimal markings on the barrel with the caliber on the top and serial number on the side of the left barrel.
The walnut stock is very straight grain and has some marks near the heel. The pistol grip stock is checkered at the wrist and the forend. Fitted with a color cased hardened steel buttplate the wood has lifted very slightly on the left side edge from compressing against the buttplate. The long tang is engraved, polished and blued. The rear two screws are properly spaced to accept our Creedmoor Vernier 3" tang sight. However, most hunters prefer the open sights as issued, when hunting big game. A single key retains the barrel. The wedge key allows you to quickly dismount the barrels, without using tools. The hooked breech allows easy cleaning, without risk of wetting the stock. he rear sling swivel stud is securely mounted in the buttstock, while the forward swivel stud is mounted to the middle ramrod pipe. The factory wood ramrod has a brass tip with 10-32 threads. No cheekpiece is formed, making this double rifle equally handy for a right or left hand shooter.
The Pedersoli Express Rifle bar locks are engraved with a scroll designs and color case hardened in vivid mottled colors. The locks appear to be in good condition, and the breech is fitted with new hardened steel nipples for No. 11 percussion caps. . The checkered grip will provide a secure grip when you fire this large bore rifle.
