This Ruger Old Army percussion revolver is polished stainless steel with blued steel target sights. Typical of stainless steel revolvers the finish shows only a few minor marks from firing and cleaning. The bore is bright, clean, and is ready to shoot. This stainless steel revolver has adjustable sights, and bright stainless finish. The front sight is a rounded blued steel blade, and the adjustable rear sight is blued steel, with a square notch. This combination presents a perfect modern sight picture, a square blade in a square notch. The top of the barrel is marked Strum, Ruger & Co. INC., Southport, Conn. U.S.A. with the additional warnings stamped on later production guns. The cylinder has safety notches cut between each nipple recess. Pull the hammer to half-cock, turn the cylinder to align the safety notch with the hammer nose, and set the hammer into the notch. Never carry any revolver with the hammer on a capped nipple.
The factory fitted walnut grips, with Ruger emblem, are in excellent condition. This revolver has a smooth action, with nice trigger release. The cylinder is marked For Black Powder Only. The revolver is fitted with the factory original hex nipples. These can be removed with a factory hex nipple wrench (not included) or a 3/16" hex socket. We offer stainless steel replacement nipples, our #PRA-S that use a standard large revolver nipple wrench. The factory recommends a .457" round ball. If your revolver shaves lead, slightly polish each chamber mouth with fine emery and a marble, until the ball seats fully, compressing the lead instead of shearing it.
This revolver includes a brown leather flap holster. This is not a Ruger brand holster, but it is sized to fit this revolver. The flap has a brass button closure and the end is capped.
