Neatly hand made by contemporary builder Leonard Day III, this well made French pistol is stocked in dark stained black walnut. The brass furniture is polished bright and has a few hand engraved accents. The R.E. Davis Becky's flintlock and 7-1/2" octagon-to-round barrel are finished to a smooth dark blue. The .50 caliber smoothbore 7-1/2" barrel has a wedding band 3" ahead of the breech with a taper and slight flare at the muzzle. The bore is bright in as-new condition. The barrel does not have any sights fitted in holster pistol, or belt pistol style where the gun was designed to be used at close range.

The black walnut stock is finished to a dark brown with a satin sheen. The slender grip gently tapers and flares into the lock panels. The flared tang of the breech plug is accented with a panel of raised carving in a rococo style. The brass buttcap is neatly fitted with langetts up the wrist and mounted with a brass retainer. The triggerguard has a decorative front final and the bow is hand engraved with a floral design. The ramrod pipes have a short pointed skirt and raised thumbnail finial. The tapered ramrod is fitted with a flared tip with no provisions for threaded accessories. We recommend one of our pistol loading rods, #PL-7-50 for use with this pistol. The well shaped side panel gives this pistol a slender appearance through the lock panels. The brass sideplate is shaped and engraved with a rococo style. The lock bolts are neatly indexed with the slots aligned.

Ignition for the gun is provided by a petite R.E. Davis “Becky’s Lock” flint lock. Use our #Flint-Eng-4 hand knapped 1/4” English gun flints for best performance in this lock. A direct drilled vent hole is well centered and positioned at the top edge of the pan to provide best ignition. The trigger is pinned high to provide good leverage against the sear.

We recommend this attractive pistol for the French & Indian or Revolutionary War reenactor, seeking a fine quality belt or holster pistol. Order it for a ten day visual inspection. You will be delighted. Else if it does not fit you, return it in unfired condition for same-day refund. Postage is your only risk, when you order any one-of-a-kind gun from Track, whether new, used, or antique.
