This scrimshawed flat powder horn has a decorative border around the base with a scrimshaw deer hunting scene: with a hunter wearing a tricorn hat, blowing a hunting horn, chasing a deer. The left hand side has a scrimshaw panel for the owners name. The horn has a brown tip with a patina finish on the base. The neck of the horn has a groove to secure a strap, and engrailed border transition to the body. a iron staple is mounted in the base. The horn measures 9-1/2" around the outside curve from the tip to the end of the wood base. Small wood pegs secure the base to the horn. A turned wooden stopper is fitted and secured with a lanyard to prevent loss.
