Unfired, in the factory carton this revolver was made by the famous Aldo Uberti & Company. Known as the Colt Model 1861 Navy revolver, it is .36 caliber with a 7-1/2” blued barrel, factory engraved cylinder, color case hardened steel frame, brass back strap, brass triggerguard, and walnut grips.

The 7-1/2" round barrel has the CAL .36, BLACK POWDER ONLY, A. UBERTI, ITALY marks hidden under the loading lever. No obvious handling marks were found on the gun. No markings can be found on the top of the barrel. The brass triggerguard and backstrap have become slightly tarnished with time and storage. This tarnish is the result of normal handling, and can be wiped away to restore the brilliant factory polish, if you wish. We prefer not to polish away the honest patina on the brass. This replica is a fine example of a Navy revolver. The frame, hammer, and loading lever are color case hardened in mottled colors. The barrel and cylinder are blued. We admire the correct reddish brown color of the grips that match the original Colt issue colors.

We recommend 21 grains of GOEX FFFg powder, and a .375" round ball, for best accuracy. Cover each ball with a small amount of our #Lube-SPG bullet lubricant or our #Mink-Oil. Despite your best efforts, this revolver will need to be cleaned after 12 or 18 shots. Remove the wedge, barrel, and cylinder. Wipe the face of the cylinder, and wipe the cylinder pin. If you continue to load and fire a badly fouled revolver, the effort needed to cock and fire the gun will become greater, causing the small internal hand, spring, and cylinder latch to become worn prematurely. Continued use will cause the cylinder and latch to become out-of-time. Simple cleaning and maintenance will prevent problems.

A great in-the-box 1861 Navy revolver that will be a joy to shoot! Order it for a ten day visual inspection. You will be delighted. Else if it does not fit you, return it in unfired condition for same-day refund. Postage is your only risk, when you order any one-of-a-kind gun from Track, whether new, used, or antique.
