Only 44 inches overall, this attractive child's longrifle has a 30" octagon-to-round barrel. Stocked in curly maple the rifle has a Lancaster County, Pennsylvania influence with a sliding wood patchbox on the buttstock. The rifle is trimmed in patina finished brass furniture, and fitted with a Jim Chambers small Queen Anne flintlock. The rifle is used with a few small handling marks. The barrel is signed D. K. Minnich.

The heart of this rifle is a 30" octagon-to-round W.E. Rayl barrel with a .40 caliber bore. The barrel has a 9-3/4" octagon breech with a sixteen flat transition to round. The .40 caliber bore is bright and has been well maintained. We recommend our .389" pure lead round ball, patched with .015" Ox-Yoke ticking, lubricated with our Mink Oil patch grease, or other animal fat lubricant, if you require best accuracy.

Trigger reach is 11-1/4" to fit a youth size shooter. Weight is only 4.5 pounds.

The curly maple stock is stained to a golden brown to best display the figure in the stock. The wrist is decorated with raised and incised C scrolls. An incised molding extends from the triggerguard to the toe. The buttplate has a gentle curve to engage the shooter's shoulder.

The 4-1/2" long wooden patch box slides easily and covers a rectangle opening containing a 40 cal scraper and ballpuller screw. The door of the patchbox is decorated with silver wire inlay.

The 30" octagon-to-round .40 caliber barrel makes this a light weight rifle that will be easy for a youth shooter to aim offhand. The barrel is finished to a speckled gray patina to match the lock. The barrel is fitted with a flat top rear sight dovetailed 8-1/4" ahead of the breech and a silver blade front sight is soldered 1-1/2" behind the muzzle.

Our top view shows the brass buttplate comb is filed with three flats and a has a wedding band transition to the comb. The cheek is angled to the rear, to recoil away from your face, an ingenious feature found on better rifles. A silver thumbpiece is fitted to the wrist. The lock panels correctly taper widest at the rear and are decorated with raised and incised carving around the tang.

The rifle's brass work is finished to a dark olive patina. A small bone or antler diamond inlay is fitted to the toe. The inlay is decorated with a star burst design with a small feather hole at the center.

Then 5/16" diameter ramrod is mounted through round ramrod pipes with incised ringed ends. The ramrod is fitted with a brass tip with 8-32 threads for loading and cleaning accessories. The muzzle end of the stock is fitted with a poured pewter forend cap.

The small Queen Anne flintlock has a crisp action and a well hardened frizzen. The rounded plate, pan, and the elegant cock are of London's best style, popular from 1730 to 1770. When using our best 3/4" knapped English gun flints, #FLINT-ENG-6, the lock will throw a shower of sparks into the pan. A stainless steel vent liner is well centered and positioned at the top edge of the pan to provide best ignition.

The rifle is fitted with a single trigger. The lock functions as it should and the trigger is pinned high with a smooth trigger release.

The brass side plate is a fowler style with sweeping curves and a molding across the tail. The lock is retained by two domed head lock bolts. The maple stock has a square cheek piece with small loops on the bottom to retain a steel vent pick. Surrounding the cheek the stock has raised carved C scrolls.

Not a child's toy, this is a fine quality small scale longrifle that a young shooter will be proud to own, shoot, and display. Order it for a ten day visual inspection. You will be delighted. Else if it does not fit you, return it in unfired condition for same-day refund. Postage is your only risk, when you order any one-of-a-kind gun from Track, whether new, used, or antique.
