This large bore Jaeger rifle is stocked in figured walnut and trimmed in browned iron furniture. The L&R Queen Anne flintlock is mated to a set of double lever double set triggers. The rifle is used with a few small handling marks as well as wear on the brown finish from areas that are frequently handled. The rifle is signed on the top flat of the barrel by J. Gefroh. Weighing in at 10.2 pounds the rifle has a trigger reach of 13-3/4" and is well suited for today's average size shooter.

This rifle includes: The .73 caliber, or 12 bore, barrel is 29" swamped octagon. The swamped octagon is thickest at the breech for strength, tapers to a narrow waist, and flares slightly at the muzzle. The .73 caliber bore is rifled with six lands and grooves with a very slow twist for a patched round ball. The bore is bright and has been well maintained. The barrel is finished to a dark brown to match the lock and furniture. The barrel is fitted with a fiber optic ramp front sight with a green optic and dovetailed with a California rear sight. The California rear sight is adjustable for windage and elevation via small Allen screws. The quarter flat of the breech is initialed JAG 12 BORE 001.

The walnut stock displays some figure through the comb of the buttstock, the stripes of figure are most visible on the cheek side of the rifle. Trimmed in iron, the walnut stock is decorated with raised carving behind the cheek piece, accented with silver wire inlay along the upper face of the cheek. The architecture of the comb and butt make the gun instinctive to aim, and the wide flat buttplate will help reduce felt recoil. The brown finish on the buttplate heel displays the most wear on the finish from being placed on the ground during loading. The lock panels taper widest at the rear in early long rifle fashion. The lock panels are framed with raised carving. The flared tang has a browned steel Fleur de Lys surface mounted to the stock at the rear of the tang which has been shaped into the raised carving that frames the panels. The triggerguard has a set of double lever double set triggers fitted. The front trigger has ample room to access it, while the Germanic style rear trigger is just accessible tat the rear of the bow.

The buttplate stands just past the square toe to provide some protection to the wood in this fragile area. The toe of the stock is decorated with a raised molding that fades into the lower lock panels. The toe is fitted with a square headed sling button. The matching forward swivel is correctly positioned to rest against a ramrod pipe to prevent blocking the ramrod channel. Incised carving and a incised molding decorate the forend of the rifle. The ramrod is a stout 7/16" diameter, ideal for the larger bore. The end grain of the stock is protected with a black horn muzzle cap. The square cheek is shaped with a molded edge and accented with silver wire inlay. To the rear of the cheek raised carved C scrolls are accented with silver wire inlay. The carving is well done with clean backgrounds.

Ignition for the rifle is provided by a left hand L&R Queen Anne flintlock. The early round face lock has strong internals and is well assembled, resulting in fast lock time and a shower of sparks to go with it. Make sure to order a dozen 7/8" hand knapped English gun flints for best sparking. In addition to the well tuned lock, ignition is further assisted by an expertly installed Jim Chambers' White Lightnin' touch hole liner. The internal concave geometry of the liner brings the main charge as close as possible to the priming charge so that the heat created by the priming powder in the pan has only a tiny distance to travel to ignite the main charge. Below the lock a set of R.E. Davis Germanic style double lever double set triggers are fitted. The double lever double set triggers are correctly adjusted, you may cock the lock, or set the trigger, in any sequence. Turn the tiny set trigger adjustment screw, between the two triggers, inboard to reduce the set trigger release tension.

This large caliber left hand Jaeger rifle has a few small marks in the finish from use. The bore is bright and has been well maintained. The rifle has modern style sights and is fitted with a sling for easy carrying while hunting. Order it for a ten day visual inspection. You will be delighted. Else if it does not fit you, return it in unfired condition for same-day refund. Postage is your only risk, when you order any one-of-a-kind gun from Track, whether new, used, or antique.
