This Kentucky pistol is stocked in curly maple and trimmed in a mixture of iron and nickel silver furniture with pewter accents. The nickel silver furniture nicely contrasts the golden brown curly maple stock and the dark blue finish on the barrel and L&R percussion lock. The style of the furniture and decoration are in the style of John Vincent of Ohio. Unsigned this well made pistol was assembled by M. Harmon. The pistol includes a leather belt holster, for a left hand carry. Weight is 2.8 pounds.

The 10" straight octagon Oregon Barrel Works barrel has been draw filed smooth and finished to a dark rust blue. The .36 caliber bore is rifled with six lands and grooves, the bore is bright and appears as-new. The barrel is fitted with a flat top rear sight dovetailed just ahead of the breech and a iron blade front sight. The front sight is easy to see at 0.1" wide, and the rear sight has a wide square notch cut. The barrel is served by a slender 5/16" diameter ramrod fitted with a nickel silver tip with 8-32 threads for loading and cleaning accessories. We recommend using a sturdy pistol loading rod, our #PL-5-36, and leaving this well fitted ramrod with the pistol.

The curly maple stock is stained to a brown with golden undertones to best display the figure over the length of the stock. The stock is shaped with a "bag" style grip fitted with a poured pewter grip cap that extends up the rear of the grip. A polished and fire blued screw secures the grip cap. A nickel silver escutcheon plate is fitted around the barrel pin. A poured pewter forend cap protects the end grain of the stock. The hand made iron triggerguard is shaped with a large bow with a finger spur on the rear. The ramrod pipes are nickel silver, shaped with paneled bodies and ringed ends. The side panel is fitted with a classic Vincent sideplate inlet flush with the side panel.

Rust blued to match the barrel the L&R percussion lock has been reshaped with a slimmer hammer. The plate is shaped with a gentle curve along the lower edge.. The drum is well fitted, critical to this style of ignition, and the nipple is surrounded with a nickel silver flash cup to direct cap spray away from the breech of the barrel. The trigger is pinned high to provide good leverage against the sear. It does have a slightly amount of take up before discharging the lock.
