This antique combination knife pistol was manufactured by James Rodgers, Sheffield, England in the mid 1800's. The 3" blade is marked Self Protector along the upper blade and James Rodgers across the base. The 3" barrel is stamped with English view and proof marks. The .314" diameter bore does have some visible pitting and the exterior of the barrel has aged to a gray patina. The nipple in the breech of the barrel is antique. Overall length is 8-1/2" with the blade extended and 6" with the blade retracted.

The hammer has only a full cock position and is operated by the folding trigger. The handle appears to be a black horn with the last half checkered with broad checkering. The left hand side of the grip has a tweezer. The rear of the grip has a trap door that opens to reveal a small storage cavity.
